Orchids in the south of Belgium

Belgium is such a beautiful country. If you search well, you can find some true beauties. One of these beauties are orchids. Many people don’t know we have these flowers in Belgium in the wild.

I went to the south of Belgium near the Viroinval region in search of them… and, I did find them, lots of them. I found as much as 5 different species on 3 different locations. The bee orchids, probably the best known in Belgium, lizard orchids, greater butterfly-orchids, fly orchids and man orchids.

I actually never was that much into flowers as I spend most of my photography time for wildlife, but seeing these beautiful flowers in the wild was truly an amazing experience.

Having really enjoyed this trip, I might look forward to some other flora trips as well… who knows.
